surgery-centerWhen Dr. Mark Scheinberg of The Center for Cosmetic & Reconstructive Gynecology performs cosmetic surgery for his patients he does so at the state-of-the-art medical facility, the ParkCreek Surgery Center (“ParkCreek”), where he is on ParkCreek’s active medical staff.  ParkCreek is ideally suited for Dr. Scheinberg’s patients’ needs.   With the latest technology and equipment, ParkCreek provides the highest level of care possible.

The ParkCreek Surgery Center is a beautiful, relatively new, Medicare certified, ambulatory surgical center that is fully licensed by the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration. It  opened in 2007.  As one of the largest facilities of its kind in Florida, ParkCreek boasts eight operating rooms and 22,000 square feet of space.  The medical equipment and technology at ParkCreek is state-of-the-art, and the facility enjoys a top-flight professional medical staff that includes a total of 55 admitting  physicians who, like Dr. Scheinberg, are in private practice, along with supporting clinical and business office staff.

Anesthesia services for patients who have their surgery at ParkCreek are provided by Greater Florida Anesthesiology, which specializes in the provision of anesthesia for outpatient surgical cases and boasts board certified anesthesiologists and certified nurse anesthetists.    These professionals are well-versed in procedures that help to ensure patient safety.

Designed to serve the residents of North Broward and South Palm Beach Counties, ParkCreek is located in Coconut Creek, FL.  “ParkCreek is in a convenient location for most of my patients,” observes Dr. Scheinberg.  “I like that it is situated right in the heart of the community in a location where it can support the local community.”

ParkCreek boasts a staff of proud and talented nursing professionals whose reigning philosophy is that the safety and well-being of the patient are their primary concern.  They go to great lengths to make sure each patient feels welcome and comfortable.  Patients and their families experience a level of service that is uncommon in today’s healthcare settings.

“The staff really goes above and beyond the call of duty,” says Dr. Scheinberg.  “A lot of patients are anxious about the procedure or about post-operative pain.  However, the staff is really top-notch and they have access to the best quality techniques and medicines for pain management – they’ll do anything in their power to make a patient more comfortable. My patients are always so happy with the experience they have there.”

South Florida cosmetic gynecologist Dr. Mark Scheinberg at The Center for Cosmetic & Reconstructive Gynecology sees patients from around the United States and internationally.

“Cosmetic gynecology is a fairly new field,” observes Dr. Scheinberg.  “So there are relatively few physicians with extensive training in the field – the kind of experience that most patients want their doctors to have.  In order to find someone with the necessary expertise, many patients need to be willing to travel.”  Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1981, Dr. Scheinberg has received advanced extensive training in vaginal reconstruction, has been the invited speaker on cosmetic gynecology in seven countries and is also the scientific reviewer in four peer reviewed journals. He offers the latest in minimally invasive vaginal surgery.

Not surprisingly, many of Dr. Scheinberg’s patients hail from South Florida, but a sizable number also visit from more northern parts of the state such as Tampa, Gainesville, and Orlando.  He also sees patients from other southern states such as North Carolina and Georgia – as well as a variety of other states.  International patients are not uncommon.  Patients find Dr. Scheinberg on the internet or through references from other patients.

“Many countries have no practitioners who can provide the kind of services we provide,” notes Dr. Scheinberg.  “We get patients from the Virgin Islands, where physicians don’t offer these kinds of specialty services, and from countries like England, where cosmetic procedures aren’t as common.”

Recognizing that out-of-town patients face logistical obstacles, the staff at the Center for Cosmetic Laser Gynecology is available to help.  They frequently make travel and hotel arrangements for visiting patients.  The practice has close relationships with many luxury hotels in the local area. They can also give advice about shopping, restaurants, spas, and attractions in the area.  Most patients need to remain in the South Florida area for 2-4 days depending on the type of procedure.

Medical tourism is on the rise and South Florida is a popular destination.  A survey by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau at Miami and Fort Lauderdale airports discovered that about 1% of the passengers were visiting to obtain medical care in 2010.  A rough estimate for Broward and Palm Beach counties alone would work out to 240,000 patients a year and $260 million in tourism spending (not including the costs for medical care).

“Some of our patients have vacation homes in the area,” remarks Dr. Scheinberg. “But many of them visit Florida to enjoy the beach or play at the amusement parks.  Medical care doesn’t have to be painful and boring.  You can take a vacation and go home happier about yourself and your body.”

The Center for Cosmetic & Reconstructive Gynecology Releases Free Guide

book

The Center for Cosmetic & Reconstructive Gynecology has released a free guide for cosmetic gynecology patients entitled “Intimately Confident.”  The new guide educates patients about cosmetic gynecology options and gives tips for choosing a provider.

Since many people are unfamiliar with cosmetic gynecology, the guide describes the top five most common reasons that patients seek out such procedures.  It also lists the seven options/solutions available to patients who want their problems addressed.  The list includes:

  1. Vaginal rejuvenation and reconstruction
  2. Site specific defect repair
  3. Labiaplasty/volvoplasty
  4. Hymenoplasty
  5. Fat transfer
  6. Vaginal rugae rejuvenation
  7. G-spot augmentation

“There are a lot of women in the world who are experiencing s stress urinary incontinence or problems with intimacy related to physical changes in the vagina,” explains Dr. Mark Scheinberg, a doctor with the Center for Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery. “But they don’t have to suffer. There are procedures that can address and alleviate these conditions so that women can live satisfactory and fulfilling lives.”

The guide tells the story of a specific patient’s experience with gynecological problems and how cosmetic gynecology helped her.  It also answers the top questions asked by patients, including:

  1. Is the procedure painful?
  2. Will I have to go under general anesthesia?
  3. What is the recovery time?
  4. How long will I have to wait to have sex again?
  5. How long have you been doing these procedures?
  6. I am from out of town. How would I get this procedure done?
  7. Will insurance cover my procedure?
  8. Are there additional costs?
  9. Do you offer payment plans?
  10. How long will my rejuvenation last?  Is it permanent… or will my vagina ever need to be redone?”

The guide stresses the importance of choosing a cosmetic gynecologist carefully and gives several pointers on determining which doctor is the best choice. It includes a list of questions to ask about a doctor’s qualifications and experience, emphasizing that cosmetic gynecologists should have specialized advanced training, extensive surgical experience, and a wide range of available techniques and procedures. Patients should ask to see photos and look for patient testimonials – and should inquire if doctors offer a guarantee for their work.

The guide also warns of red flags that signal a doctor who may not have the right qualifications and describes what a patient should expect on the first visit – and subsequent appointments.

Dr. Scheinberg Offers Four Kinds of Labiaplasty

Uncategorized No Comments »

While many cosmetic gynecologists only offer a couple of procedures, Dr. Mark Scheinberg at the Center for Cosmetic and Reconstructive Gynecology offers a wide variety of treatments, including four different kinds of labiaplasty.

Designer Laser Labiaplasty and Vulvoplasty is a cosmetic surgery designed to enhance the overall appearance of your vagina.  Labiaplasty (or vulvoplasty) is the aesthetic surgical corrections and enhancements of the genital structures: labia minora, labia majora, clitoral hood, mons pubis, perineum, prepuce, and hymen. In planning a labiaplasty, there are five crucial areas that need to be addressed in order for a patient to achieve the look she wants:

  1. Contour – The shape should be smooth and pleasing.
  2. Color – The colors should be consistent on both sides. Some women prefer to correct darkened areas.
  3. Symmetry – Both sides should be even.
  4. Size – Most women want their inner labia smaller and the outer labia “puffy.”
  5. Smooth edges – The “natural” look has smooth edges with hidden suture lines

Dr. Scheinberg offers four different ways to do a labiaplasty; each method offers a different potential look depending on the patient’s preferences.  The Mark V is his most popular labiaplasty procedure. In most cases patients want the Mark V in order to transform the enlarged inner lips of the vagina into petite, smaller lips (particularly if they extend excessively below the outer lips). In addition to causing embarrassment and self-consciousness, excess skin can also cause physical discomfort during sexual intercourse or when a woman wears tight underwear or a swim suit.

“We believe patients should have more choice in their result than just how much is cut off,” explains Dr. Scheinberg, a Ft. Lauderdale cosmetic gynecologist.  “That’s why our most popular procedure is the Mark V which preserves edge, color, contour, symmetry and reduces size while hiding the suture line.”

Although, each surgical procedure is designed to meet individual specifications, the most commonly requested labiaplasty procedures are as follows:

  • Reduction Labiaplasty. This procedure reduces the elongated or unequal labia minora (small inner lips) according to the patient’s preferences.
  • Reduction of Excess Prepuce (extra skin along the clitoris). This surgery can provide the true Playboy aesthetic look. Some patients want the skin to drape neatly over the clitoris. The reduction of the excess prepuce provides the desired aesthetic enhancement of the clitoral skin. Most women who get the Mark V or laser reduction labiaplasty need the reduction of excess prepuce to complete the aesthetic result.
  • Labiaplasty of Labia Majora (outer lips). This procedure enhances the sagging labia majora (large out lips), thus providing a more youthful and appealing vulva.
  • Augmentation Labioplasty (Labiaplasty). This procedure provides an aesthetically enhanced and youthful labia majora by autologous fat transfer (removing the patient’s fat through liposculpturing and transferring it into the labia majora).
  • Mons & Vulvar Liposuction.  This process can remove unwanted fat in the mons pubis and upper areas of the labia majora. Liposculpturing can further alleviate this area’s unsightly fatty bulges and produce a pleasing contour.
  • Combination Procedures – Various labiaplasty procedures can be combined with most cosmetic surgical procedures, including liposculpturing, breast implants, breast reduction, tummy tuck, nose surgery, and eyelid surgery.

Vaginal Rugae Restoration Expert Discusses Cosmetic Gynecology

Article No Comments »

MIAMI, PALM BEACH AND DEERFIELD BEACH, FLORIDA – Elongation of the labia minora, the small inner lips of the vaginal opening, can be a source of discomfort and embarrassment for some women.

“Aesthetic appeal is a concern for many women and for some it can be a matter of function or pain,” says Dr. Mark Scheinberg, a cosmetic gynecologist who specializes in vaginal rugae restoration.

In most cases where the labia minora hang lower than the labia majora, Laser Reduction Labiaplasty, the brand name for aesthetic labia amputation, shaves away the excess labia with a laser until the inner labia are equal to the outer lips of the vagina.

Scheinberg offers an alternative solution which does not require amputation of the labia and provides a natural look and sensation, leaving the original edges of the labia intact.
