The event will take place Feb. 24 and 25, and speakers will discuss the application and combination of gynecological surgical principles, with cosmetic surgery and aesthetic medicine.

Cosmetic laser gynecology procedures such as labioplasty and hoodoplasty are consensual. Females get these procedures to ease pain during intercourse, decrease embarrassment and to better their sex lives.

The long-term effects of FGM include:

• Chronic bladder and urinary tract infections
• Infertility
• Complications during childbirth, and risk of newborn deaths
• Cysts around the female organs

Vaginal reconstruction expert Dr. Scheinberg discusses the different types of FGM.

Type I: Clitoridectomy- This is the partial or complete removal of the clitoris.

Type II: Excision- The partial or complete removal of the clitoris and labia minora.

Type III: Infibulation- Making the vaginal opening narrower by creating a seal. The seal is created by cutting and moving the inner or outer labia.

Type IV: Other – Other procedures include pricking, piercing, scraping and cauterizing the vaginal area.

FGM is a common practice in western, eastern and northeastern regions of Africa, and in some countries in Asia and the Middle East. It is also common in immigrant communities of North America and Europe.

Severe pain, heavy bleeding, bacterial infections and open sores are just a few of the immediate complications for females undergoing FGM. This procedure can interfere with the natural function of their bodies.

“We offer a reconstructive surgery of infibulated scars, which are associated with type III genital cutting,” says Dr. Scheinberg. “Defibulation can alleviate some of the complications associated with this form of FGM.”

It is important for everyone to understand the difference between cosmetic gynecology and FGM practices. Labiaplasties and hoodoplasties are performed to benefit women. FGM is a form of torture, and is performed against the female’s wishes.

During this speaking arrangement that took place Dec. 8-12, the cosmetic-plastic gynecology group was given a plenary session to introduce cosmetic gynecology. This was a first for this field of gynecology. The group consisted of Professor Adam Ostrzenski, of St. Petersburg, FL, Dr. Troy R Hailparn, of San Antonio, TX and Dr. Mark Scheinberg, of Deerfield Beach, FL.

Clitoral Hoodoplasty
Reasons to get a clitoral hoodoplasty may be from a buried, hypertrophic-gaping or asymmetrical subdermal hypertrophy. Buried means the hood opening is slightly or completely closed. Hypertrophic-gaping means the foreskin of the clitoris is too long, thick or both. Asymmetrical subdermal hypertrophy means the thickness of the hood is uneven.

There are two techniques of a clitoral hoodoplasty. Restorative surgery is performed to rebuild a destroyed opening of the clitoral hood caused by skin conditions, or female circumcision, and bring back the lost prepuce without causing in nerve damage. Labia Majora Labioplasty
During the topic of labia majora labioplasty, Dr. Scheinberg, a designer labioplasty specialist,
explained the five labia majora labioplasty procedures that are applicable, and the two that are not. Horizontal Labia Majora Labiaplasty and Vertical Labia Majora Labiaplasty techniques are non-applicable to perform due to the scars left behind.

Often, the Labia Majora gets a flattened or wrinkled appearance because of stretching or damage to tissues in the perineal area, and the resulting loss of support occurs during childbirth. Non-Applicable

There are two non-applicable methods of performing a labia majora labioplasty. The first is the horizontal labia majora labiaplasty. This is not an appropriate technique because it can leave an unacceptable horizontal scar.
The next is the vertical labia majora labiaplasty, and this is not appropriate due to the unacceptable vertical scar it leaves behind.

Finding The Correct Muscle
To get the basic move, try to stop the flow of urine when you are in the restroom. However, don’t make it a habit of stopping the flow of urine because it could eventually lead to weakened muscles. Try it once to get the exact feel for it.

Once you have found the right muscle, hold it for five seconds and relax for five seconds. Work your way up.

Focus
Try to only tighten the pelvic floor muscles. Don’t use your abdomen or thighs, and don’t hold your breath.

Try to do the exercise at least five times a day. Do it while you are driving to work, checking your voicemail or watching TV.
